Tip: Frugal Iced Coffee

Make a half pot of coffee, allow it to cool a bit. Then pour it in a quart jar and add a tsp. of sweetener (or to your taste). I use Agave syrup, which is low-Glycemic and you use less than you would sugar, you can always add more later. Shake well to dissolve sweetener and put in fridge until cool.

When ready to drink, pour into glass making it 1/2 to 2/3 full (depending on how strong you like it, (I'm a 2/3 full person) and fill the rest with milk and then ice if needed. I leave mine in the fridge until the next day so I don't always need ice.
I make extra coffee every day or so and pour the extra (after my morning hot coffee) into the quart jar with a little sweetener. I am a coffee lover and when I'm out and about, I love to stop for an Iced Coffee but the prices always make me cringe. I can't really break down the price for you but I guarantee it's very little compared to store bought.
If you are a person who would normally pour that coffee down the drain after you've had your fill, think about just putting it in the fridge. It will be yummy latter when you're wishing you had an Iced Coffee. For that matter, you could pop it in the microwave too.
BTW, this is in a recycled Spaghetti sauce jar, no special materials needed.

I had never heard of this unusual take on punch, and although I don't like coffee, this is a refreshing change from the usual icky sweet punches that are usually served. It's simple and delicious.

I refuse to pay for ice coffees that are filled with ice and you are only getting 1/4 of coffee in your cup. Call me "frugal". Yes, I am frugal! :)

I am a lover of flavored coffee. Like many of you, it begins my day with a hug from within. I am here to share a tip with you. I am beyond cheap. I like to use the word frugal. I won't spend money in a coffee shop. I won't say never but, you get it. I have not purchased one in over 20 years.

Florida has lots of hot days and I'm a coffee lover, so I combine the two. Leftover coffee goes into the refrigerator for the next day, at which time I add Hazelnut CoffeeMate, return it to the fridge, and sip on it throughout the day.

I don't drink a whole lot of coffee at one time, so when I am done with the pot I have made, I pour the remainder in an old, cleaned out flavored creamer container.

I put 8oz. of chilled coffee in a blender with 2 or 3 sweet and low packets, 2-3 TBSP. of flavored creamer (french vanillia) and 3 large ice cubes.

Then I blend it all untill there are no pieces of ice. ENJOY!

I use coffee essence in a glass of milk with a couple of scoops of icecream (sometimes I add a little sugar as I am a sweet tooth). The amount of coffee essence depends on the brand - I have used a good quality instant coffee but if I do that I usually dissolve it first with a little boiling water otherwise you get a bitter taste - I usally put it all in the milkshake maker to mix it all up

A friend of mine always freezes coffee in ice cube trays for the iced coffee so that as they melt, the coffee doesn't get all diluted and weak. I thought that was genius!

The best iced coffee I have ever had is at Mc Donalds. They have regular flavor, vanilla, and 2 others. I always get regular. Try it you will like it.

Most iced coffee drinks are made with cold brewed coffee. It has a smoother flavor and is less acidic than regular brews. I have a Toddy coffee maker that allows me to brew a pound of coffee in cold water to make a concentrate that you can use to make any kind of coffee drink you want.

I brew mine and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks at a time in the glass carafe that comes with the Toddy. Amazon.com sells a couple of brands of cold brew systems, and a google search lists several places that sell them.

Brew your favorite brand of coffee stronger than you normally would for hot coffee. If you want sugar in your iced coffee, add it while it is still hot - this will allow the sugar to dissolve. Pour the hot (sugared) coffee into a pitcher and store in the refrigerator. To serve, pour a glass of the chilled coffee over ice and add creamer or milk if desired. This will last several days in the refrigerator. When I purchase an occasional iced coffee, I save the plastic cup with lid to reuse for my own iced coffee-to-go at home.

I have tried many, many things and ways to come up with a good tasting cold coffee. The one I think I like the most is: using a single serving envelope of "hot chocolate mix" you can choose your favorite flavor.

I don't like my coffee too sweet so I use two envelopes per coffee pot (8 cups) and a bit of milk or half and half and store the remaining in the fridge for later. hope this helps.
